Evidence and Enforcement in Food Safety: Preparing for a successful case

Evidence and Enforcement in Food SafetyTuesday 5 October 2010 – London

This one-day conference will focus on the implications of the latest developments in food microbiology as well as understanding the consequences of these developments for business and litigation.

By attending, you will be updated on the criteria affecting the microbiological safety and quality of food including legislation impacts. You will also be able to make more informed judgements of the risks of food contamination, and also feel confident in investigating food contamination cases.

Following on from the successful ‘Enforcement and Microbiology’ conference in December 2009, this conference will also update and further enlighten those responsible for strategic management and enforcement of food safety.

Aims and outcomes:

  • Understand how criminal corporate manslaughter legislation can be used in cases of food poisoning outbreaks
  • Understand what makes a case fail in terms of evidence gathering, storage and presentation in both the criminal and civil courts
  • Discover the current thinking on sufficiency of evidence required in proving cases for non compliance with training and cases for non compliance with HACCP requirements
  • Learn lessons from the investigation and enforcement of a large prison outbreak of Salmonella
  • Learn lessons from the investigation and enforcement of a Giardiasis outbreak associated with a restaurant water cooler
  • Discover the latest amazing research findings in relation to Campylobacter and it’s control from animal husbandry to food service

This conference has been specifically designed for EHPs, Environmental Health Technicians, Public Health Microbiologists, Strategic Risk Managers, Food Safety Consultants and all other Food Safety Professionals.

This conference is accredited with five hours and 20 minutes of CIEH CPD.
