  • An overview of the legal framework and dual enforcement regime associated with fire safety enforcement in residential accommodation. How the fire safety protocol can make it work.
  • Understanding the new risk based approach to fire safety, demystifying the concept and communicating with landlords General principles of fire risk reduction – the range of practical fire safety solutions and how they interact Fire Safety and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
  • Understanding some new approaches such as shared houses, single family homes, escape windows etc
  • Case study workshops – some rolled-up sleeve, hands-on group work
  • Kevin Thompson is the author of the national guidance on fire safety in residential accommodation produced by LACORS, CIEH and CFOA in 2008
