Pat Wherton, Cleaning Sector Curriculum Manager for the CIEH, has led the development group for this new Level 2 Award in Cleaning in Food Premises qualification.
Qualified in adult education from the University of Nottingham, Pat has worked in the further and higher education sectors before coming in to the cleaning industry via the (then) National Training Organisation. She then worked for the Learning and Skills Council before moving to the British Institute of Cleaning Science where she stayed for 5 years.
Working now as a consultant, Pat contributes significantly to the development of new CIEH products. In addition, she is an External Verifier for two cleaning sector awarding organisations and is the Executive General Secretary of the Association of Building Cleaning Direct Service Providers, the membership organisation for the local authority cleaning managers.

Mike Allen has been a technical advisor on catering cleaning and hygiene for 25 years. A qualified chemist, Mike has devoted his time to developing new products and cleaning schedules, helping caterers to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene. Mike has also been involved in hygiene training and environmental matters. He has given advice and professional guidance to end users and all levels in the catering industry.
