Private Water: Implementing the new regulations workshop

Alongside guiding you through the detail and background of the Private Water Services regulations, this workshop will highlight the three key issues identified since their implementation:

  • the new areas of private distribution systems
  • Regulation 31 approval requirements
  • the new system for serving restriction and improvement notices

You will also gain practical assistance based on experience achieved through carrying out risk assessments and advising on source protection, network and treatment improvements.

Content

  • Looking at changes to the PWS regulations required by the 1998 EU Drinking Water Directive and incorporated in the 2009 PWS regulations
  • Check and audit monitoring; what are the requirements and parameters?
  • Detailing preventative and protection strategies for supplies
  • Outlining available treatment options and the implications of Regulation 31 and WRAS approval
  • In-depth review of the risk assessment requirement for private supplies and private distribution systems
  • Issuing Regulation 18 and Section 80 notices: procedure, problems and implications including the appeal process
  • Highlight risk assessment and source protection with case studies

  • explain and examine the regulations with emphasis on the key areas and requirements
  • understand the legal and practical implications of this new legislation in improving the safety of small rural water supplies and for private distribution systems
  • understand where and what notices should be served
  • identify the data required to effectively operate the notice process and improve water safety
  • have a clear understanding of the new skills required to effectively meet the challenges presented by the regulations
  • increase your knowledge in improving water safety and understanding of water related subjects.
