Putting Sense back into Health and Safety

Putting Sense back into Health and Safety - Large

After the announcement on 15 October 2010 of Lord Young’s review on Health and safety, the CIEH has teamed up with leading stakeholders and organisations to organise this essential one-day conference to discuss what the review means for both regulators and industry.

Given the review findings and the current economic climate, Health and Safety must continue to play an important role within businesses and local authorities, as reducing risks and ensuring safety not only minimises accidents and illnesses but can also reduce costs significantly.

Commenting on the report, Stephen Battersby, CIEH President, said:

"The CIEH agrees with Lord Young when he calls for a common sense and proportionate approach to health and safety. The CIEH believes that all people need to be protected at work and responsible businesses should be able to operate without unnecessary burdens.”

This conference on Health and Safety will address the Governments concerns about excessive risk aversion and will see a prominent government minister give the keynote speech on the latest findings from the health and safety review.
