5 May – Lancashire County Council, Preston
The CIEH, supported by HSE, organised a short series of workshops aimed at those responsible for, or delivering, Health & Safety enforcement in local authorities.
These courses are practically-based and focus on supporting local authorities and Health & Safety enforcement staff to meet the new requirements of Section 18 guidance which requires all fully authorised H&S enforcement staff to meet the new competence framework.
The requirements were examined before moving on to look at the practicalities of undertaking the competence audit using the RDNA tool, validation of the outcome, and the options available for addressing any competence gaps/development needs identified. The GRIP tool, developed to assist enforcement officers, was also considered and, in particular, how it can be used to address developmental needs identified through the RDNA. Finally, the workshop covered the production of personal development plans to respond to identified development needs.
6.5 hours of CIEH CPD was available.
