
Dr Stephen Battersby, CIEH President, has a long and distinguished career as a public health advocate.
He is a freelance Environmental Health and Housing Consultant. He has also been a Senior Research Fellow at the Safe and Healthy Housing Unit in the Law School at Warwick University where he has undertaken research into housing standards and their implementation that led to the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). He was also a member of the team that developed the HHSRS and was heavily involved in the training of practitioners on the HHSRS and its use.
He is also a visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Robens Centre for Public and Environmental Health, University of Surrey.

John Bryson FCIEH, FRIPH
John is a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP) who worked for Sheffield City Council for many years before he became a housing and health consultant working on housing and regeneration projects for a number of local authorities. He has also worked for the Law School at Warwick providing Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) training packages for professionals involved with the assessment of housing conditions. As well as delivering a great deal of the national training programme he managed and monitored the delivery of the programme.
John is very much involved with the CIEH and, most recently, he was Chair of the Commission on Housing Renewal and Public Health. He has also been involved with a number of health and housing research projects.
