Tuesday 2nd and Tuesday 16 Nov – Manchester
To help you qualify to deliver the new CIEH Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification, the CIEH has worked with Wingate Training to design a two-day blended learning course – the CIEH Level 4 PTLLS workshop.
The workshop programme combines teaching sessions, distance learning and a practical assessment. Delegates who pass the assessment will receive the FAQ Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector and will be registered to deliver the CIEH Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
Day 1
You will be guided through a thorough review of the Level 4 syllabus and given a list of useful resources to consult to develop subject area knowledge.
Distance learning
You will undertake a structured, 30-hour, distance-learning programme based on the five core learning outcomes of the PTLLS award and prepare a micro-teach session for assessment.
Day 2
The practical assessment comprises delivering a micro-teach session, demonstrating a selection of teaching, learning and feedback approaches to engage and motivate learners.
Outcomes:
- Understand the teaching role, responsibilities and boundaries
- Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in a specialist area
- Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions that motivate learners
- Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for keeping records
- Demonstrate session planning skills
From Level 3 to Level 4 – one-day conversion programme
Delegates who have recently completed a Level 3 PTLLS qualification need only attend Day 1 of the workshop. Delegates for the conversion programme must submit a PTLLS portfolio, comprising a copy of each of the three Level 3 PTLLS assessments – that is:
- Assignment 1 – the session plan, including self-evaluation and peer assessments
- Assignment 2 – the summary demonstrating understanding of the role and responsibilities of a teacher
- Assignment 3 – the review of a teaching session, together with the description of the full teaching programme and two further session plans
The portfolio will be reassessed and delegate will be expected to complete a Level 4 PTLLS theory assignment. If this is passed, the delegate will be awarded the FAQ Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
