Troubles with Sewers Large Overview

Dealing with sewer problem is a key issue for Environmental Health Practitioners. It involves a wide range of factors, often complicated and time consuming that can impact both on the environment and public health. Partnership working is therefore essential in finding the solutions. The Troubles with Sewers workshop held on 25th January brought together a range of potential partners to examine the different problems with sewers.

Outcomes
Delegates benefited from the view of experts in the field on issues in both domestic and commercial premises, to include:

  • Misconnections and the potential impacts on local watercourses
  • Fats, oils and greases and ways to reduce the problems
  • Minimising food waste to sewers
  • Flushables and disposable products

Who attended?

Whilst the workshop focused primarily on Environmental Health Practitioners working within local authorities, the event was also useful to anyone working in this subject area.
