This one-day workshops provided thorough technical training whilst explaining how the European Drinking Water Directive are to bring a different approach to different supplies, with risk assessment allied to formal enforcement becoming standard procedure.
This workshop covered the change in duties and responsibilities in enforcing regulations for EHPs including:
- Looking at the changes to the PWS regulations as required by the 1998 EU Drinking Water Directive and explaining the new emphasis on statutory requirements, risk/hazard analysis and remedial/treatment measures
- Detailing preventative and protective strategies
- Outlining available treatment options
- Identifying the most common contaminants and their causes
- Addressing how to carry out and better interpret sampling results
- Presenting practical case studies from Scotland where these changes have already been implemented.
Outcomes of this workshop
After attending this workshop, delegates were able to:
- acquire a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the causes of, and cures for, contaminated PWS
- gain in-depth knowledge of the new regulations
