What is an external verification visit?
CIEH quality assurance procedures require that practical assessments are periodically externally verified to ensure that practical training is being delivered, and the assessment conducted, to an appropriate standard.
Centres delivering the CIEH Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work will be contacted at intervals by a CIEH external verifier (EV) to arrange an external verification visit. EVs will observe the practical assessments of 3–4 candidates and provide advice and guidance where needed. EVs will not be auditing the centre/trainer, rather providing support to ensure best practice.
There is no charge for external verification visits.
Please note, external verifiers will conduct an external verification visit at the same time as the first centre monitoring visit. Thereafter, external verification visits can occur at any point.
What is an annual trainer evaluation (ATE)?
In order to meet the HSE minimum training standards, all trainers delivering the CIEH Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work will need to undergo an annual trainer evaluation. This must be carried out using the Annual Trainer Evaluation Form (ATEF). The annual trainer evaluation can be conducted by any CIEH registered or HSE approved first-aid trainer.
During each CIEH EV visit, evidence of annual trainer evaluation should be provided. Failure to do this will result in centre and trainer registration suspensions.
