CIEH Policy Officer honoured

CIEH Principal Policy Officer Ian Gray has attended Buckingham Palace to receive his MBE. He was named in the Queen’s birthday honours list in June. Mr Gray received the award for his services to public health, particularly his campaigning work for the CIEH in the development and implementation of smokefree legislation.

Ian was accompanied to the palace by his wife Yem Leng, a health visitor; his son Andrew, 29, a primary school teacher; and his daughter Jennifer, 25, a secondary school teacher.

Ian said:

“My family and I had a wonderful time. I spoke to the Queen and she commented that the smokefree legislation had been very popular.”

He also thanked his friends and colleagues for their support.
