Publication Date: 2nd June 2009

Subject: CIEH

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) today announced the broadening of access to its health and safety qualifications in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following the signing of agreements with WS Atkins plc and ETA Consultancy.

WS Atkins plc and ETA Consultancy are now registered CIEH training centres and will issue health and safety qualifications to both their own workforces, and to those of firms employing large numbers of construction workers in Dubai and throughout the UAE.

At the signing ceremony, Kris Murali, CIEH Managing Director, said:

“We are delighted to have formed these partnerships with WS Atkins plc and the ETA Consultancy to provide the CIEH’s health and safety qualifications in the United Arab Emirates. We will be working closely with the Municipal Authorities for their approval to extend our reach in training and certifying the local workforce.

“This will build on the strong foundations we have already created in the provision of food safety qualifications and allow further awarding of portable internationally recognised vocational qualifications to workers in the United Arab Emirates.”
