As part of its drive to develop new partnerships and markets in China, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) will be participating in a major food safety conference in Beijing on 21 – 23 April.
Organised by the China Chain Store and Franchise Association (CCFA), the conference will provide the CIEH with the opportunity promote its diverse portfolio of accredited qualifications to a wide audience.
Commenting, David Denton, CIEH Business Development Manager, said:
“We are delighted to be visiting China again and to meet colleagues in training organisations and the food retail industry.
“It is a very exciting time to be visiting and working in China. The Food Safety law, which comes into force in June, heralds a new era for the CIEH and its partners. This conference will provide us with a platform to exchange ideas with our Chinese colleagues, share knowledge and ideas.
“Over the past couple of years, we have been working very effectively with the China Chain Store and Franchise Association to grow our business in China. In a two year period we have trained over 200 retail managers in food safety. We have also issued accredited qualifications to food handlers working in the Chinese subsidiaries of TESCO, Carrefour and Wal Mart, as well as Chinese food retailers like Wu-mart.”
“The CIEH is a global leader in development of food safety qualifications. Our vocational qualifications, covering public and environmental health, are the industry standard.
Over the past couple of years the CIEH has also expanded into Australia, the Gulf states, Sri Lanka and Singapore, and has a thriving subsidiary in the USA.
The fifth CCFA food safety annual conference is organised in collaboration with CIES– The World Food Business Forum. A food retailers’ product withdrawal good practice guide will be published at the conference, together with the results of the CCFA’s 2008 China Supermarket Food Safety Survey.
