CIEH announces new Level 2 AED qualification to complete its first aid portfolio

A new qualification has been launched by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) that will benefit anyone delivering first aid training.

The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can now be delivered by CIEH registered trainers and training centres.

This latest qualification in the CIEH level 2 First Aid portfolio allows trainers to offer a complete package in first aid training, which also includes Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work, Level 3 First Aid at Work and the new Level 2 Emergency Paediatric and Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualifications.

Commenting, Paul Byrne, CIEH Head of Operations, said:

“We developed this new qualification in response to a need identified by a number of our clients. It was felt that this qualification was required to complete our portfolio of first aid qualifications. CIEH is the number one choice for QCF First Aid qualifications. I am pleased that once again we are able to respond to customer demand.”

The new qualification provides candidates with essential knowledge and understanding of the importance of the safe use of an automated external defibrillator.
The CIEH has developed a training pack that can be used to deliver Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator containing:

  • trainers’ notes manual
  • a CD-ROM containing a PowerPoint presentation and activity sheets
  • a brand new course booklet

The CIEH’s comprehensive subject-specific, modern and engaging training materials have been developed by subject-matter experts and industry specialists and will helps trainers deliver an adaptable well-structured and thorough programme with confidence for both candidates and their employers.
