The Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) and the Public Protection Partnership (PPP) of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) are working together to develop a new qualification for Business Compliance Assessors. This is a new class of officer which will complement the role of existing regulators.
Over the last 3 years AGMA, supported by LBRO, has been trialing and refining new ways of assessing the ongoing compliance of business premises. Following extensive evaluation of the pilot a revised model has been agreed and is being taken forward as a shared service for the Greater Manchester city region.
Business Compliance Assessors will be collecting information about businesses and the competence of management as an indicator of the likely regulatory compliance of the business. Where the outcome of assessment indicates a concern about likely regulatory compliance the business will be referred through to the regulatory bodies for their evaluation.
Steve Miller, Chair of EHRB told EHN “ The development of a new qualification which supports better regulation principles and complements existing professionals is an attractive prospect in these changing times.”
“EHRB is as committed as ever to producing and awarding high quality qualifications that meet our exacting standards.
