Last November, David Denton, CIEH Director of Business Development, was invited to speak at a conference organised by United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) about capacity building in developing countries.
David’s presentation focussed on the value and benefits of delivering internationally recognised CIEH qualifications to workers in developing countries employed in the hospitality, tourism and food processing sectors.
He highlighted the role the CIEH has played in tailoring its food safety qualifications to match the needs of the hospitality industry in Sri Lanka and most recently in Egypt.
“While CIEH qualifications have long been valued by businesses up and down the UK and the USA, we continue to extend CIEH food safety expertise in developing countries.
“CIEH qualifications are a universally recognised standard of excellence and we are very well prepared to take on new challenges and opportunities. A strategic priority for us remains to build and develop a portfolio of global certification hubs.”
The UNIDO conference of over 400 agribusiness stakeholders, including representatives of private and public institutions (technical and financial), international organisations, donor countries, civil society and academia met at the first International Agribusiness Conference to share innovative agribusiness solutions and best practices that can potentially be scaled-up and/or transferred to other countries or regions.
