In addition to the benefits of Associate membership, this grade demonstrates that the member is dedicated to continuous career development within the field of environmental health.
Accredited Associate members must undertake at least 10 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) per year.
Accredited Associate members may use the designatory letters ACIEH in their professional correspondence.
There are two routes to apply for Accredited Associate membership:
Route A
Accredited Associate membership can be accessed immediately by people who have passed one of the following qualifications:
- EHRB Certificate in Animal Welfare Management
- EHRB Certificate in Integrated Pollution Prevention Control
- EHRB Certificate in Sunbed Management
- CIEH Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace
- CIEH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering
- CIEH Level 4 Award in Food Safety Management for Manufacturing
- MSc in a subject related to Environmental or Public Health
- BSc in a subject related to Environmental or Public Health
- Institute of Acoustics Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control
- Higher National Diploma in Health and Social Care
- Higher and Ordinary Certificates in Food Premises Inspection (Scottish Food Safety Officers� Registration Board)
- Higher and Ordinary Certificates in Food Premises Inspection (Institute of Food Science and Technology)
- Diploma in Trading Standards
- Diploma in Consumer Affairs
- NEBOSH Diploma
Even if you don't hold one of these qualifications, you could still access Accredited Associate membership if you have a level 4, or higher, qualification related to environmental or public health.

Route B
Even if your current qualifications do not entitle you to access Accredited Associate membership immediately, you can still look to access this grade via the Membership Assessment.
Please note that you must join as an Associate Member before attempting the Membership Assessment.
Beyond Accredited Associate Membership
Accredited Associates may be able to upgrade to Voting Membership via the Membership Assessment.
Accredited Associate membership can also be used as a route to full qualification as an EHP.
