Firstly it is pleasing to report an increase in total worldwide membership of the C&I SIG from 567 last year to 634 to date, of which 500 are on e-mail.
A very warm welcome to all new members – I hope you find these newsletters and other communications you receive of interest and value.
It was a great pleasure to receive a letter from a founder member of the original
C&I Group: Bill Lewis, written as always in his immaculate copperplate handwriting.
Bill is alive and well and living in Cambridgeshire. As he does not have e-mail he appreciates the annual hard copy of Signal Times that he receives via mail and always sends me an update on his activities. For anyone who would like to contact him please note that he now has access to e-mail via his son on lewisthetax@aol.com (and yes – the title is self explanatory – Bill tells me that his son is a tax consultant!)
Steve Rhodes writes with an update of changes in his company (SRa) as follows
Following on from my note last year about seeking an exit route by merging my consultancy business with another company I would first of all like to thank those who made contact for their time and interest.
Secondly to let everyone know that I have now completed the merge of Stephen Rhodes Associates (SRa) with Sentient. Based in Otley, West Yorkshire (that’s up north for those who are not sure) the two businesses
have a synergy and common approach to consultancy and training with SRa bringing their health & safety, food safety and environmental health skills to work with Sentient and their H&S portfolio and employment law and HR support services. It’s been quite surprising how many of our clients have had an interest in the HR support. We are now beefed up in our consultancy and training resource and in our ability to carry out scheduled audit work.
No rest for me yet I’m afraid with new business to find but roll on the next couple of years.
Regards
Steve Rhodes

Last but by no means least – Warmest congratulations to member: Dawn Welham, who writes to inform me that she has now been appointed Technical Director with Asda (previously – Head of Trading Law).
Dawn was a speaker at the Spring Seminar on May 13.
