Recruitment
Membership of the C&I SIG increased from 509 in 2007 to 567 year end
Assistance to/involvement with the CIEH
Assistance provided as requested by the CIEH officers with consultation documents, comment on circulars, contribution to HO official correspondence where required
Development of “Bespoke” Training Courses (e.g. Media Training & Courtroom Skills)
(The objective was to organise and offer these courses to all the CIEH members)
Not carried out due to high cost / insufficient interest from members to make the courses viable
Contribution to overall objectives of the CIEH and input to Best of the Best Conference
A number of C&I SIG members were speakers at the 2008 event
To maintain strong ongoing contact with members and provide news, information, items of interest by both electronic and mail communication and the website
- 10 monthly editions of “Signal Times” journal produced and circulated on e-mail
- Spring edition produced on hard copy and mailed to all members worldwide.
- Increased contact and involvement with membership. Website re-launched
To organise an annual programme of seminars, meetings and training events to help members develop their professional skills and knowledge and meet their CPD requirements
Events provided/attendances:-
1. Spring Seminar 4 March – “Your Career in Environmental Health”
(Well attended – 32 delegates including many students – and an informative and interesting event. To be repeated in 2009)
2. Summer Seminar 19 June – “Delivering EH in Adversity”
(Excellent programme and a full attendance of 69 delegates. Feedback highly complimentary).
3. Allergy & Allergen Awareness Training Day 15 April
(Full complement of 20 members. Cost subsidised with £500 contribution from group funds)
4. Annual Members Meeting & Lunch 28 September
(Attendance 35 members. Sponsorship provided by Connaught Compl.)
5. Autumn Seminar 14 October – “EH Out of The Office”
(Attendance 32 delegates. Venue kindly provided f.o.c by the Army)
6. Xmas Event & Lunch – 12 December (33 members enjoyed presentations from Sarah Smith on current activity of the LBRO and from member: Lisa Ackerley (Hygiene Audit Systems) on her experiences as Technical Consultant on the BBC TV programme: “Rogue Restaurants”, followed by an excellent lunch)
Note: Attendance at all of these events provided a total of 28 CPD hours
