We offer six grades of membership:
Student
For people studying for a CIEH-accredited degree.
Associate
For people who work in, or have an interest in, environmental health.
Accredited Associate
For people who have a qualification (or qualifications) issued by the CIEH or the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB). Or, alternatively, for people who have a relevant degree or other relevant qualification(s) – at least at the level of the Diploma of Higher Education – and have passed the CIEH’s Accredited Associate Assessment.
Graduate
For people with an EHRB Certificate of Registration, but who have not passed a ‘gateway’ assessment
Voting
For people who have an EHRB Certificate of Registration (or equivalent) and were either corporate members of the Institution of Environmental Health Officers on 1 January 1990 and have been continuous members since, or have passed the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC), the Assessment of Professional Development (APD), or qualified through the CIEH’s Professional Examinations route.
Fellowship
People who have been voting members for 10 years may be awarded a Fellowship by the CIEH Council. Fellowship may also be given to those who have been members for five years and who submit an approved thesis about an environmental health issue.
