Who can be a member?

Becoming an international member has never been easier.

International membership is open to anyone with an interest in environmental or public health.

If you are qualified as an Environmental Health Officer (or equivalent) outside of the UK, you could be entitled to use the designation 'GradCIEH' on letterheads and business correspondence once you have become a member.

Neverthless, anyone interested in environmental and public health can become an Associate member of the CIEH. However, to access higher grades and the opportunity to gain designatory letters, which you can use on business cards, letterheads and CVs, we may need to assess your experience and qualifications via the Membership Assessment.

Details of the Membership Assessment can be found here.

Our Membership Assessments take place three times a year. We would love for you to consider attending. If you are currently based overseas, we are looking to conduct our interviews over ‘Skype’. Please indicate in your application if you are overseas and we will arrange for an interview to take place over the internet.

The fee for the Membership Assessment is the lesser of £110 or 0.57% of your gross annual salary.

Further details of the membership grades and the related benefits can be found here.

If you have any questions regarding the assessment process or your portfolio, please feel free to contact us at membership@cieh.org.
