How we support you

We offer invaluable support and resources to help you in your current role, whatever the employment sector, and also to develop for the future. Membership gives you:

Credibility
We are a world-renowned professional body with a reputation for excellence and innovation. Membership shows a passion for environmental health and a dedication to high standards of professionalism, which you can demonstrate through use the designatory letters ‘MCIEH’ after your name.

You also become part of a recognised CPD scheme, with the annual completion of 20 hours CPD, demonstrating your ongoing commitment to professional excellence. All this helps you stand out of the crowd to current and potential employers or clients.

In return for high levels of commitment, members at this level have the right to vote at Annual Meetings, influencing the direction of our organisation.

Up to date information
Through access to EHN magazine (available in print and e-edition online), monthly member-only e-newsletters and online updates you will have cutting-edge information about environmental health. This, alongside our technical briefings and conferences and seminars (with up to £200 saving on the cost), will give you the knowledge you need to perform in your role.

Support in your career
Membership means resources, such as case studies, tools, workshops and good practice guidance, to guide you in your work. It also means access to a host of events to keep your skills current and to fill any gaps, giving you the competitive advantage. As well as this, you become part of a professional community, influencing and shaping environmental health across all employment sectors, which helps to create the support needed by you and others.

Networking opportunities
Access to local and specialist low-cost and free professional development events through our membership network means meeting with peers and potential employers and clients, gaining real insight into what’s happening across the environmental health sector and making connections that can help you further down the line. You can also do this online through our MyCIEH forums.

Member rewards
Discounts on career-related and leisure products and services to save you money in your professional and personal life. Current offers include free CV and career services and savings on holidays and gym memberships.

Beyond Membership

Members may be able to upgrade to Chartered status (see our Chartered status page for more information) and are eligible to apply for fellowship (more information on the requirements for Fellowship here).
