Food consultations

The Food Safety Competency Frame is a framework of core competencies for individuals who are working in food safety.

It was developed by a Working Group on ‘Food; Inspection, Safety and Standards’ facilitated by the CIEH. This Group focused on providing clarity about the competencies expected for all  individuals, regardless of their employer, who operate in the field of Food; Inspection, Safety and Standards.

For those involved in enforcement it describes the competencies expected of officers authorised to exercise the powers laid down in UK food safety legislation.  The purpose of this framework is to identify areas where individuals can benefit from development activities. It achieves this by establishing the set of competencies expected of a food practitioner, and of a regulator fully-authorised to carry out food premises and food safety duties.

The consultation period runs from now until 30 June. For further details on the framework fill in the contact form.
