Free to Buckinghamshire members. 19 January 2012, Stoke Mandeville Community Hall, near Aylesbury starting 0930 and finishing 4.30 with post AGM presentations on the new competency standards followed by a 3 hour presentation on managing large events – planning, preparation and execution.

Interactive Health & Safety Day: Student Training Exercise
Tuesday 28 February 2012, Woking Borough Council, 10.00 am – 4.00 pm
£25 per student – includes lunch and refreshments
This training day will consist of 2 interactive exercises, each taking half a day on Intervention Area S7: Work Place Accidents and Intervention Area S6: Work Related Illness
Students will have the opportunity to undertake a simulated accident investigation and an investigation of an allegation of occupational injury, interviewing the parties, evaluating documentation, identifying evidence gaps and ultimately making a recommendation as to the most appropriate course of action to be taken in respect of both matters.

5 March - SE Region Spring Forum - ‘Engaging second tier councils in the new public health agenda’
Free for members, this full day event will consider the specific issues facing second tier councils as they try to engage with the emerging public health agenda. We will hear from Key note speaker- Public Health Minister Anne Milton and others shaping policy direction in the South East, with an opportunity to discuss the issues, and then learn from some of those in the Region who have been successful in engaging locally. 8 March - Invitation to Lunch for SE retired members
In 2012, REHOLD (Retired EHOs luncheon date) will meet as usual at Keats Restaurant, Winchester on Thursday 8 March; congregating in the bar at 12 noon for 1230 lunch; price c.£20. We welcome any new and old retired members who care to join us and, if you wish to join REHOLD, the phenomenal once-off subscription (not always collected!) comprises a drink for the Hon. Secretary, Geoff Charnley (FCIEH) who has been organising the lunch for years!

16 March - Preventing or controlling ill health from animal contact at visitor attractions – training for enforcement agencies
Following the largest outbreak of E. coli O157 from animal contact at an open farm in 2009, the HSE have reviewed and revised the Agriculture Information Sheet AIS 23 ‘Preventing or controlling ill health from animal contact at visitor attractions’ and produced revised inspection and enforcement guidance. To support the revised guidance The National Farms Attraction Network (NFAN) and HSE have arranged two half day training sessions for agencies which have enforcement responsibility for visitor attractions.
Taking place at The South of England Showground, Ardingly, West Sussex this ½ day training session is available at no charge to local authority inspectors. For a full programme. To register contact anna.fenton@hse.gsi.gov.uk

Interactive Emergency Planning Day: Student Training Exercise
Wednesday 18 April 2012, Council Chamber, Guildford Borough Council. 10.00 am – 4.00 pm
£25 per student – includes lunch and refreshments
This interactive training day will address: Intervention Area P7: Emergency Planning;
Students will take part in a small group desk top exercise considering a developing time lined scenario identifying issues and developing appropriate responses. There will also be an opportunity to compare and contrast views and to reflect on approaches proposed and their relative merits and perceived defects.
