Why has the CIEH created a Scotland Region?
The region was formed following a petition from more than 50 members to the CIEH’s Council.
Council recognised the importance of the CIEH providing its members in Scotland with the same level of support and services that are available elsewhere.
The CIEH region will aim to link up all our members in Scotland and to encourage networking, professional development opportunities and grass roots activity.
Will the CIEH organise CPD events and opportunities?
Yes, the CIEH Scotland Region will launch a programme of CPD opportunities towards the end of 2009. Funding to support the member support programme will be provided by the CIEH.
Where do I find out about these CPD events and activities?
Please visit www.cieh.org/scotland, which will be dedicated site for the Scotland Region.
Will this cost me anymore?
No, the creation of the Scotland region and the services it provides will be available to members for the same annual subscription fee.
How will the region be managed?
The Scotland Region will be managed by a regional management board composed of members of the region. The region will elect one member to Council and that person will take their seat in January 2010.
How can I become actively involved with the region and its management board?
Please contact us here or call us on 020 7827 5815
Will the region operate a local branch structure?
CIEH regions are empowered to decide on their own organisation and substructure. The regional management board will be interested in hearing the views of members throughout the region on what activities and services they are interested in receiving.
I used to be a CIEH member and am interested in getting involved with the new Region – what should I do?
We are always pleased to hear from former members who are considering rejoining. Reactivating your CIEH membership has never been more straightforward and we would encourage you to get in touch with our membership section here or call us on 020 7827 5815
How can I keep up to date with what is happening in the new region?
We will be updating this website regularly in conjunction with the regional management board. Information will also appear in Environmental Health News and our forthcoming e-newsletter.
