Project Management Course - Low Cost Training Programme: Only 6 Spaces Available (£55 per delegate)

The content of that link is as follows:

The West Midlands Region is putting on a Project Management Course on 10th September in Stratford-Upon-Avon. The course is taught by David Newsum. There are currently 6 places still available at a cost of £55 per delegate. The day will generate c. 5.5 hours of CPD.

This professional Development Day will help both new and experienced practitioners to apply essential project management skills to their next project.

Projects range from simple tasks which merely need simple organisation and time management, to complex campaigns with teams, budgets, targets, contracts and milestones. Anything that has a start and an end can be regarded as a project, from a simple inspection or audit, a training course, a piece of research, a food safety campaign, setting up a forum, etc. Much of environmental health work is delivered through projects, both in the public and private sectors.

All projects large or small benefit from the application of skills in 5 key steps. This day will enable participants to understand these steps and how to use the skills to ensure their own projects are successful. This day is ideal for those who will be involved in small and medium scale projects, whether as a solo activity or in a small team. The day will not cover use of project tracking software, but there will be a very brief reference to the Prince2 systems approach which is a nationally recognised set of principles used by many large organisations.

To get the most from the day participants should bring brief details of a project they have in mind, or one they have recently started, to consider during the day in practical application sessions. The day is highly participative, and is constructed to enable the staged completion of an action plan directly relevant to the individual’s own project. This can then be carried through after the day into further work which may be able to be counted as part of the CIEH’s new enhanced CPD scheme.

Outcomes/programme:

Participants will explore:

1. Scoping and defining projects

2. How to plan a project effectively
