Demand from students for the written Professional Exams under the 1997 curriculum for environmental Health has reduced significantly following on from the full implementation of Curriculum 2003.
Bearing in mind the above, and in line with the recommendation of the CIEH’s Chief External Examiner, the written Professional Examinations under the 1997 curriculum are to be phased out over a period of 12 months.
Consequently all students who have still to complete written professional exams under the 1997 curriculum should note that the last sitting for these examinations will be in July 2009.
It has also been determined that during this phase-out period students who would normally sit the written exams under the 1997 curriculum may choose instead to take the written examination under the 2003 curriculum. Consequently, instead of being obliged to sit exams in Food Safety, Health & Safety, Public Health, Housing, Environmental Protection and a Risk Audit such students may opt to take the single 3 -hour written paper under the 2003 curriculum. This also applies to students who have already undertaken some exams under the 1997 curriculum, but who still need to re-sit some papers.
Further information on these changes may be obtained from Education & Professional Standards Unit.
