Whichever way you choose to study – full time, part time or distance learning – work-based learning is an integral part of becoming a qualified practitioner.
In providing evidence of work-based learning you need to successfully complete either the Experiential Learning Portfolio (ELP) or the PT Logbook. Students enrolled on the 1997 curriculum are required to complete either the ELP or the Logbook, while students enrolled on the 2003 curriculum must complete the ELP.
Updates for the PT Logbook
Recent legislation has meant that some of the guidance and instructions contained in the three PT logbooks is outdated and misleading. Students are advised to review the updates for the PT Logbooks.

Flexible ELP Assessments
CIEH Qualifications Board has agreed that from February 2011 all remaining practical training logbooks and ELPs will be assessed ‘on demand’. This means that students will be able to choose the date by which their ELP or Logbook is assessed rather than having to wait for scheduled assessment sessions.
The last formal ELP assessment session will take place during week commencing 10 January 2011.
Application forms for ‘ELP Assessment on Demand’ will be available on this website from mid January 2011.
