Students enrolled under the 1997 curriculum who wish to sit the professional examination may apply after completing of their accredited degree or at the examination session immediately prior to their graduation, providing they have passed the ELP/Logbook assessment.
The written examination comprises five papers, relating to each of the five main environmental health functions (i.e. health & safety, food, environmental protection, housing and public health)
Students who would normally sit the written exams under the 1997 curriculum may elect to take the written examination under the 2003 curriculum. Therefore instead of being obliged to sit written exams in Food Safety, Health and Safety, Public Health, Housing, Environmental Protection and a Risk Audit, affected students may choose to take the single, three hour written page under the 2003 curriculum as an alternative.
The last sitting for the exam under the 1997 curriculum will be in July 2009. After this date, all students will be required to sit the written exam under the 2003 curriculum.
