Publication Date: 5th June 2014

Subject: CIEH

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and HC-One today announced a new quality assurance partnership. HC-One is the third largest care home provider in the UK, and specialise in dementia, nursing, residential and specialist care.

Commenting on the partnership, Executive Director of Commercial Services, Frank Post said: ‘Over the past couple of years the CIEH has been working with a wide variety of partners to promote the benefits of food safety and hygiene.

We are delighted that HC-One has provided us with the opportunity to share our extensive knowledge and expertise in food safety, gained over 130 years. We have applied robust quality assurance standards that will raise the bar for food safety and infection control standards for HC-One. We both share a strong and common commitment to health and wellbeing and to high standards of food safety and hygiene.

‘As an organisation the CIEH has made a significant contribution to improving environmental and public health in the UK and internationally and we are delighted to share our expertise.

‘Most importantly, we believe our relationship with HC-One can act as a template for further agreements where we can advise partners to improve food safety and performance, comply with legal requirements and achieve internationally-recognised standards of best practice.’

Nia Golding, HC-One’s Learning and Development Manager, said:

‘The introduction of CIEH Assurance to a selection of our blended learning modules has provided recognition whilst also demonstrating to a number of our regulators the quality and standard of learning.

‘This initial approval has enabled us to ensure that catering teams within all HC-One homes have received training to a level two standard of education.
I would recommend the assurance process with CIEH.
The process is very simple; it allows and assures learners that they can complete nationally recognised courses to a high standard.

‘We are very pleased to have achieved CIEH Assurance for our three programmes. As a leading provider of food safety training our partnership with the CIEH will strengthen our reputation as a safe and reliable care home provider.’

CIEH have assured HC-One’s Level One Food Safety Training, HC-One’s Level Two Catering Safety Training and HC-One Level One Infection Control Training.
