Safety in Food Premises

The essential starter qualification for those working in food premises.

The CIEH Level 1 Award in Induction into Safety in Food Premises provides candidates with a basic awareness of the health and safety issues faced in any food-related premises.

This half-day qualification is ideal for those who are entering the food premises workplace for the first time, either as part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment.

The qualification provides an awareness of key safety issues and the role that all employees play in keeping themselves and others free from harm at work.

Why choose this qualification?

It is a legal requirement for all employers to provide health and safety training to their employees and to supervise, train or instruct employees as appropriately required for their work duties.

This qualification provides a great starting point from which more detailed health and safety and/or food safety training (for example, CIEH Level 2 Awards) can follow.

Who should do the qualification?

  • Those who are entering the workplace for the first time – either as part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment;
  • Those who are starting a new job (as part of an induction programme) in food premises.
