This one day regional conference will focus on key issues associated with the management of environmental noise by environmental health professionals. The conference will include specific session topics and case studies on the issues relevant in the North East Region, covered by local speakers.

National issues associated with noise nuisance and environmental noise management will also be discussed and covered by expert industry speakers. The conference will be chaired by Tony Lewis, Head of Policy.

Peter Wilson

Peter Wilson is a Technical Director at The Institute of Noise and Vibration Council. He has an engineering background plus 30 years of experience in the fields of noise analysis and control. Both he and the INVC have acquired a considerable reputation (and awards) for developing innovative assessment and noise control techniques across a wide range of applications and industries. He developed the current fan and BPM training noise workshops for the Environment Agency and is in demand internationally as a highly entertaining (and sometimes controversial) speaker.

Tony Lewis

Tony Lewis FCIEH is a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner and is Head of Policy for CIEH. Tony leads on the development, dissemination and promotion of CIEH’s policy campaigns in support of all aspects of environmental health professional practice. Tony played a leading role in the development of the Regulators Development Needs Assessment framework, the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework and has served as a Director of the UK Public Health Register. He is currently a member of numerous Government steering groups and committees.

Jack Harvie Clark

Jack Harvie-Clark is the founder of Apex Acoustics, the immediate past Chair of the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) and a Board member of the Air Tightness Testing & Measurement Association (ATTMA). Jack has a strong interest in the interdependence of acoustics, ventilation & thermal comfort, and instigated the production of the current Guide by the ANC. He studied Engineering at Cambridge University, specialising in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics; worked on steam turbine blade development for Rolls Royce, undertook research into a novel composite thermal insulation at Newcastle University and helped establish a renewable energy visitor centre before finding acoustics.
