This course will take the form of a timeline walk through health and safety investigation, where options will present themselves and delegates will have to decide on the best and most appropriate way forward.
Delegates will consider the dilemmas and practical difficulties facing officers and consider alternative options as they come to light to determine the most suitable way forward. Decisions will include validity and admissibility of evidence and factors influencing it, types of enforcement action to be taken and the powers to be used in acting on the decisions made, practical issues such as impact of social media, health and welfare issues and reporting restrictions and ultimate disposal of the case with justification.
This is a good course for newly qualified officers allowing them to explore the use of health and safety powers in a realistic but 'safe' environment and a great refresher for more experienced staff.
