The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has emphasised human responsibility for the climate crisis, creating a need for innovative environmental solutions to reduce air pollution, save water and reduce our global carbon footprint. Our Environmental Protection conference will review the Government’s plans on ‘building back greener’ after the pandemic and explore how local authorities are tackling the concerns of air pollution, increased flooding and fly-tipping.
The Environmental Bill was put on hold due to the pandemic and as it returns, this conference will assess the legally binding environmental targets set to support the rural economy and protected landscapes. We will also discuss what powers the newly established Office for Environmental Protection will have and how they will scrutinise and take enforcement action against environmental wrongdoing.
