The UK COVID-19 Inquiry has been set up to examine the UK's preparedness and response to the COVID‑19 pandemic, and to learn lessons for the future. The inquiry is being led by Baroness Hallett.
CIEH has been invited to a roundtable event to be held on Friday 1 April in order to inform the consultation on the final terms of reference for the inquiry. We want to ensure that our input to this is informed by members. To that end, this facilitated engagement event is about just that – assisting in informing our input.
We therefore invite any member from all UK regions to participate in this event on Thursday 31 March.
Attendees will be required to read the Terms of Reference Consultation Document and have considered the questions below:
- Do the inquiry's draft Terms of Reference cover all the areas that you think should be addressed by the inquiry?
- Which issues or topics do you think the inquiry should look at first?
- Do you think the inquiry should set a proposed end-date for its public hearings, to help ensure timely findings and recommendations?
- How should the inquiry be designed and run to ensure that bereaved people and those who have suffered harm as a result of the pandemic have their voices heard?
Individuals can also respond to this consultation independently. We would encourage EHPs to do so. The consultation will close on 7 April 2022 at 23:59.
