Overview
Statutory nuisance has a significant impact on the health and well-being of individuals, and as more people have been required to work from home or self-isolate, it is unsurprising that local authorities have seen a surge in reported statutory nuisance cases, particularly noise and smoke complaints.
In the bitesize training format, this session will provide an understanding of how and when statutory nuisance should be used and explore the possible impacts that COVID-19 is having on decisions and enforcement cases.
NB: This session will not look in detail at matters such as the Human Rights and Equalities legislation, and how these impact on decisions to serve Abatement Notices. These and the associated issues around mental health disability (as they affect both complainants and those whose behaviour causes complaints) will be covered in module 2, Noise Nuisance in a post-COVID-19 world.
Module two available date:
23 October
Module three available dates:
25 October
