CIEH welcomes HSE's new strategy - ‘Helping Great Britain Work Well’

Publication Date: 1st March 2016

Subject: Health and safety

Following the publication of HSE’s new strategy ‘Helping Great Britain Work Well’, Tony Lewis, Head of Policy and Education for the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), said:

“The recent history of health and safety in the UK has focussed on the safety element of the discipline but health and safety is so much more than just preventing accidents. Health and wellbeing in the workplace is an integral part of health and safety and that’s why we are encouraged by HSE’s new strategic direction.

“Environmental health practitioners are on the front line supporting businesses and organisations in all financial climates to develop and implement effective health and safety oversight of their businesses to not only keep staff and members of the public free from immediate harm and injury but to also protect and improve their health and wellbeing.

“We will continue to support our members so that they can engage with businesses, across a range of industries and sizes, to implement robust health and safety policies and we welcome the opportunity to work with our colleagues at HSE on the delivery of the new strategy.”
