Subject: CIEH

The head of the CIEH’s new membership organisation, the Institute of Food Safety Integrity and Protection, Jenny Morris, received her MBE today at Windsor Castle from the Queen.

She was awarded the MBE for services to environmental health in the Queen’s birthday honours list in June.

Ms Morris, who advised on food safety during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, said she was very pleased with her MBE.

‘It’s great to have what you do publically recognised but it is also great that the work of environmental health was recognised,’ she said.

CIEH chief executive Graham Jukes, who was awarded an OBE in the New Year’s honours list, said:

‘This is a fantastic accolade for Jenny and recognition of the value placed on the work we collectively do.’

Ms Morris is a member of various committees and boards and provides expert advice to questions relating to microbiological issues and food. She works on a daily basis with government to advise on proposed changes to food safety regulation and guidance.

Prior to working in environmental health, Ms Morris managed her own small food business and is a qualified chef and food safety trainer.
