Are you up-to-date with the latest developments and knowledge in environmental health? This is a fast-changing sector and continuing professional development is the best way to keep up with the pace.

What does CPD mean?

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. CPD is any learning or training that improves and broadens your knowledge, skills and ability to do your job.

Remember, you’re responsible for keeping a record of all CPD, and you may need to show this to become a member of CIEH – so don’t let that hard work go to waste.

What’s in it for me?

  • Learn new skills. It sounds obvious but new skills and knowledge are the best way to progress your career.
  • Employability. If your knowledge is strong and up-to-date, you’ll have a competitive edge with potential clients. CPD also demonstrates that you take an active interest in self-improvement, which makes you a much more attractive prospective employee.
  • Self-confidence. Being more confident in your abilities can open up lots of new work opportunities. It can also boost your performance and enjoyment of your current job.

Do I need CPD?

All our members, with the exception of student, Affiliate and retired members, are required to accrue a certain number of CPD hours. It’s part of the quality guarantee that comes with CIEH membership.

We offer a whole range of events that count towards your CPD, so check out our events page to find something that suits you.
