About this conference

Join us for the launch of our new Climate Adaptation Conference, bringing together environmental health professionals within local authorities to examine the impacts of climate change on public health and local communities. 

This conference will explore current challenges, policy developments and the role of environmental health officers in supporting climate adaptation. Through expert-led discussions attendees will gain practical insights and opportunities to share their experiences with peers.

Dr Lisa Ackerley, Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner. Dr Lisa Ackerley, an elected Trustee of CIEH, is a leading authority in food safety and public health and hygiene, with over 40 years of experience across regulatory, academic, industry, and media sectors. A Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner and Professorial Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, Lisa has shaped food safety policy, practice, and communication in the UK and internationally.

She co-founded Hygiene Audit Systems, a consultancy that supported food businesses for 28 years in HACCP compliance, risk management, and due diligence defence.

She was Senior Lecturer in Environmental Health at the University of Greenwich and taught at Kings College London and is now Honorary Lecturer at Hull York Medical School.  A prolific communicator, Lisa regularly presents at professional conferences and has published in peer-reviewed journals, including Perspectives in Public Health, Public Health in Practice and the International Journal of Hygiene and Environmental Health.

Lisa has held strategic advisory and board roles with UKHospitality, SALSA and the Department of Health, contributing to national guidance on catering hygiene, allergens, acrylamide, and COVID-19 hygiene protocols. She served on the FSA Steering Group reviewing the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme and was a member of several other FSA working groups. She is the Chair of the Board of Reckitt Global Hygiene Institute and Trustee and Scientific Advisor of the International Scientific Forum on Home Hygiene. She is Deputy Chair for Cornwall of WaterShare+.

Currently Director of the Public Health Company Ltd, Lisa continues to influence food safety standards, policy development, and public engagement, championing evidence-based hygiene practices to reduce foodborne illness and antimicrobial resistance.
