Half-day technical workshop


This half-day technical workshop focuses on the practical and operational safety requirements for the day-to-day operation of swimming pools where water-related activities are the main business (e.g. communal and leisure pools) or provided as an additional service for the public (e.g. hotels, campsite and school pools).

The workshop will discuss legal perspectives, highlighting relevant criminal prosecutions and civil litigation and consider swimming pool operation, systems of work (pool safety operating procedures (PSOPs), normal operating procedures (NOPs) and emergency action plans (EAPs), and practical risk assessment, as well as relevant guidance, best practice and other sources of information including HSG179 - Health and Safety in Swimming Pools, 2018 and BS EN 15288, and topic areas such as lifeguard zone visibility tests (LZVT), Natural Scan:20 and swimming pool supervision technology.
