CIEH Beauty Conference to explore new licensing scheme for non-surgical cosmetic procedures

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Beauty Conference, taking place online on 18 October, will bring experts together to discuss the current UK Government consultation on a proposed new England-wide licensing scheme for non-surgical cosmetic procedures and other developments in the UK beauty industry.

The new scheme will involve a practitioner licence and a premises licence and will make it an offence for anybody to carry out non-surgical cosmetic treatments without a licence. The scheme will also make it illegal to treat anyone under the age of 18 with such treatments.

CIEH and its partners have campaigned tirelessly on this issue, culminating in the amendment to the Heath and Care Act 2022 allowing the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to introduce such a scheme.

In the keynote session at the conference, Professor David Sines CBE, Chair of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), and Sarah Clover, one of the top Licensing barristers in the country, will discuss the key concepts and principles of the consultation.

• Safe practices for cosmetic piercing
