ACEHO survey on attitudes and perceptions of CIEH: joint statement from ACEHO and CIEH 

Following the Association of Chief Environmental Health Officers' (ACEHO) 2023 survey on the attitudes and perceptions of Local Authority Environmental Health regarding professional body membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), CIEH have gratefully received and reviewed the results. ACEHO and CIEH would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete the survey last year.  

From a review of the findings CIEH intends to take forward the following pieces of work: 

• Conduct research into our pricing model 
• Provide better clarity on the value and services of CIEH membership  
• Better understand and address the perception issues raised by the survey 
• Build upon and improve our communications and advocacy work 

The above work will be captured within a larger project that CIEH will execute with the aim of better meeting the needs of the profession as well as driving engagement and membership.  

The Chair of ACEHO, Annie Albon, and the Acting CEO of CIEH, Fran McCloskey, have agreed a clear shared aim to foster closer partnership working to support the needs of the environmental health profession.
