Incident response and prosecution

Alternative date:

About this workshop

At this interactive workshop, attendees will walk through a work-related accident investigation. Participants will decide whether an individual or a company is guilty of an offence(s) and should therefore be prosecuted.

The training day will include a mock trial with a judge, prosecuting and defending barristers, and delegates playing the jury. The event builds towards your opportunity to cast your vote – guilty or not guilty. This will be followed by a discussion around sentencing and a Q&A.

What previous delegates found most useful

  • “All of it was good, but the mock trial was a first time experience for me.”
  • "Networking with other experienced officers. It is easy to feel very isolated when investigating a fatality or a serious accident for a council. My local authority does not have experienced officers to turn to for advice. It was really helpful hearing that others had experienced similar issues. It was also helpful discussing individual cases and learning points.”
  • “The whole day was excellent and well laid out. Good practical advice.”
  • "I enjoyed the practical elements, it was nice to see how it would all fit together."
