Half-day technical workshop

Alternative dates:

Overview

The private rented sector (PRS) continues to play a vital role in housing across the UK, but ensuring compliance and protecting tenants’ rights remains a challenge for local authorities. With the introduction of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025, significant changes have been made to strengthen tenant protections, enhance enforcement powers, and impose stricter penalties for non-compliance. Environmental Health Officers and PRS professionals are at the forefront of implementing these changes, making it essential to understand the Act in detail and its practical implications for day-to-day enforcement.

This half-day technical training workshop provides a comprehensive breakdown of the enforcement powers available in the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 and elements of the Act coming into force in May 2026. The workshop will equip attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to enforce the new legislation effectively.

Outcomes

The session will cover:

  • Key provisions of the Act – what’s new and what it means for landlords, tenants, and enforcement bodies.
  • Enforcement powers – how local authorities can act under the new framework.
  • Penalties – understanding the consequences for non-compliance and how they are applied.

Who should attend?

Environmental Health Officers and professionals working in the PRS within local authorities.
