CIEH's advisory panels are set up across key areas of work. Our Health and Safety Advisory Panel helps us to form our policy positions, advises us on consultation responses and submissions as well as feeds in a source of expertise and knowledge to our policy work and campaigns.

Our panels include representatives from all regions and nations of the UK, so that our work is informed by a variety of perspectives and experiences. Everyone on the panel is a CIEH member and works with us on a volunteer basis.

Current areas of work

The panel advises us on our health and safety policy.

We also work actively with members of the panel to support our work around better regulation of cosmetic procedures.

CIEH are members of the Health and Safety Executive / Local Authority Enforcement Liaison Committee (HELA) and the Local Authority (LA) Health and Safety Practitioner Forum.

Our policy objectives are to:

  • Ensure health and safety is considered in all areas of government policymaking
  • Ensure that the new licensing regime for cosmetic procedures is effective, both for regulators and in protecting members of the public from harm
  • Encourage businesses - the duty holders for health and safety - to meet their obligations and protect workers and the public
  • Improve capacity within local government to ensure there are adequate resources in place to regulate businesses with regards to health and safety at work
